I was born and
raised in the small farm town of Willcox, Arizona. When the closest to
civilization is 20 miles away, a child learns to use their imagination in every
way humanly possible. This is especially true with me, considering I was the
youngest of three kids. I was always being excluded, so naturally, I formulated
my own little world of make-believe.
Once high school
rolled around, I quickly established my niche as “the photographer girl”. For 4
years I continued down that path, becoming yearbook editor for 3 years
straight, getting published in magazines and newspapers and even doing some
senior portraits for classmates. Once high school came to a close, I was ready
to give myself a new label. So, after graduation I sold my camera and gave up
photography.
Well, that didn’t
last long. I realized photography, and art in general, was my passion, and
denying that wasn’t making me happy. After a long road of not wanting to be who
I was, then being who I was not, I have now learned that I would rather do what
makes me happy than be different for the sake of being different.
